Chris Walton-Tate — York Wedding Photographer

Photographer, Musician, Avid Reader, Aspiring Writer, Animal Lover, Traveller. Based in York, England.

So, who am I?

I've been photographing since 2005, starting out by photographing bands and live music events. At university, I founded the Leeds Metropolitan University Photography Society, running classes, events, and workshops. I went on to work for a nightlife and events photography company, becoming an award-winning photographer and capturing events across Europe.

I hold a Master's degree in Design (passed with distinction) focusing on neurodiversity and print media. After university, I managed a nationwide events photography business before going independent. My work has been featured by Topman, Topshop, and Lonely Planet.

After a period in the police service, I returned to photography as my primary career — and it's safe to say I've truly found my calling. My journey has taken me across the country and abroad, giving me countless memories to cherish. The best part is that moment I send the photos to a couple and they come back saying they love them.

Outside of all that...

I'm a lover of nature and birdwatching, and I hold a BSc in Music Technology — so music is a huge part of my life too. I'm a dual German-British national who grew up partly in Malaysia, so travel and different cultures have always been close to my heart.

I'm married to Sarah, and we share our York city centre home with our two rescue cats — Nyx (our very own Yorkshire lass) and Ziggy (he's Greek!). When I'm not behind the camera, you'll find me gaming, making music, reading, or exploring new places.

Life is for living — it took me way too long to realise that.
